Dr. Saturday - NCAAF

I doubt Urban Meyer ever seriously considered someday leaving Florida for Notre Dame -- "dream job" talk aside, there's a reason he turned ND down for the Gators in the first place -- but if there was a speck of a glimmer of a faraway star of a chance Meyer might end up in South Bend, after the rumors, the silly Photoshops and the digs from Steve Spurrier, it's officially dead now:

Meyer turned back to the golfers and said, "I'm not going to Notre Dame. Ever. I'm going to be the coach at Florida for a long time, as long as they want me."

He turned back to me and told me to put that in the paper, then to three other writers playing in the tournament and told them to print it.

You can thank certain columnists for killing the beast, at last. Thank you, certain columnists: With the season rapidly approaching, there won't be enough time to dig up the corpse of the Meyer-to-ND rumor again until at least December.

The meme went from annoying chatter to legitimate problem for Florida the second five-star, all-world 2010 prospect Matt Elam, heretofore a lock for the Gators, said he would go ahead with visits to other schools ($), apparently after "hear[ing] rumors there will be coaching changes at Florida after this season." I'm sure Meyer couldn't care less about Paul Finebaum, but when he tells the writers "Print it," he should have bought a subscription for Elam's address while he was at it.

Money has nothing to do with it!! who would want the reputation of working at
superstitious univ? they practise cannibalism there every day and are a polytheistic
establishment (trinity-remember) in a monotheistic world (well almost). the name doesn't
even refer to a physical being(ascension-remember) unless it really means mary magdalene. in the latter case, the school colors (borrowed from navy) are not even
wrong. but then, are their present colors blue, gold, white, green.........?
again, who would want to work in a place that preaches supernaturalism?

#6, You are a moron. He is a coach. He is there to win. The whole idea of teams such as Michigan and Ohio St. And Notre Dame being the dream jobs are dead! Florida, whom I hate with a passion (GO DAWGS), is a much better fit for a coach especially as of late. A lot of SEC teams and USC, The U of Miami, Texas, Oklahoma (I hate too) are dream jobs for a football coach. They get as much of a say as they would in those universities. Why would a great coach like Meyer ruin his reputation by going to a school that he's not gonna be able to revive himself for years at least. Going from Utah to Florida was an upgrade... going to ND now, like the fruit rollup comercial, seems like a step back.

Dan... You truly are a moron. Do some research before you spew a bunch of B.S. UF is ranked 49th of all universities (including ivy leagues such as Harvard, Yale, etc. And 17th among public universities by U.S. News & World Report. Look it up. Making a stupid comment like that makes you seem completely uneducated.

First, you COMPLETELY missed the point which was that dumbass dan stated that UF doesn't top any academic lists (implying that UF has a inferior academic program). However, UF is very highly ranked. Second, despite Notre Dame being ranked only a little ahead of UF, it costs 10 times as much. Third, if you would care to debate this, let's compare. My uncle and I both went to UF and both have the title Dr. How about you?

In responce to Post #7 --- I'm no Golden Domer by any stretch, as a matter of fact if they fell into a SMU type abyss I would be thrilled. But labeling institutions of higher learning like Notre Dame or SMU as superstitious because they are religiously afilliated is depressing. To think Americans are still religiously intollerant. With your line of thinking sir let's just close Villanova, St. Joseph's Duquesne, LaSalle, DePaul, Gonzaga, St. Bonaventure, Providence, Marquette, St. John's, Boston College, and nearly 200 Catholic Universities across America. Might as well as close every religious insitution not just educational ones. Besides, according to you, they are all "superstitious."

    @7
Cannibalism: Jesus is not physically present in the transfiguration of the Eucharist, if I recall correctly; it is an ontological transformation.
Polytheism: One God in three parts, which is way, way different from thinking that a prayer to Zeus won't be heard by Athena.
Ascension: I don't even get this... If Mary and Jesus were physically present on earth and then ascended, they were still physical beings on earth.
There's nothing stupid about having religious beliefs, and I challenge you to prove otherwise.
