Thursday night perennial South Florida just lost to Louisville. Cincinnati just got blown out by UConn. USF has no running game. Cincinnati's best quarterback occasionally suffers from numbness of the arm. It's a barnburner!
Circumstances, such as they are: both teams are among the six Big East teams currently sitting at two losses, but this is essentially a conference elimination game -- USF, the only ranked team in the league and easily the conference favorites as late as three weeks ago, has already gone down twice in Big East play, meaning the Bulls don't even control their own destiny the rest of the way. The UConn loss was the first conference slip for the Bearcats, but came against the first decent team they've played since being crushed at Oklahoma. The loser tonight is officially out for the count.
What: South Florida at Cincinnati live blog, all comments welcome (not all will be approved).
When: Game starts, like now. Blog goes up at 7:30 p.m. ET, kickoff is shortly after.
Why: An existential struggle of former Conference USA teams to stay alive for a likely second or third-place finish in the Big East is what Thursday nights were made for. Our Founding Fathers died for the rights of fringe top-25 teams to duke it out for petty stakes in front of a captive but indifferent nation. Or are you not a real Amurrican?
Who: You. Hit "Watch Now," keep it clean, and hide the crystal: Jim Leavitt's in the house.
