Dr. Saturday - NCAAF

This is just about the time last year that everything went south on South Florida: undefeated, off a big Friday night win at home, riding high in the polls after a slew of upsets opened the yellowbrick road to the top ten, and a sketchy conference rival puts an end to the party on a Thursday night. In '07, it was 6-0, with a win over heavily favored West Virginia, and an ascent all the way to No. 2 before Rutgers delivered the nationally-televised kibosh. Tonight, USF is 5-0 with a tough comeback over Kansas, a comfortable, under-the-radar spot at the cusp of the top 10, and enter the Wannstache.

Nothing Pittsburgh's done in the first four games suggests it has any reasonable chance of upsetting a serious team in Tampa -- a loss to Bowling Green and back-to-back cliffhangers with Iowa and Syracuse are not beacons of competence -- but the Panthers are 3-1, have a legitimate star in LeSean McCoy, and we're only a week removed from Oregon State over USC. We've seen enough to know better -- although, if things go badly for Pitt, tonight may be the night Wannstedt-weary Panther partisans decide they've seen enough, period.

What: Live blog, forum for Pitt at South Florida and Oregon State at Utah, for you weird Versus people.
When: Kickoff at 7:30 p.m. Eastern, live blog at 7:25-ish.
Why: When you hear that noise outside and feel your house shake ever so slightly, you'll be able to reassure the family: "It was only South Florida coach Jim Leavitt arguing a holding call, kids." If you were watching the vice presidential debate or something, you'd have no idea what the hell that was.
Who: You, reader! Just hit "Watch Now," keep it clean, and don't be afraid to admit you're mildly terrified but also strangely intrigued by Matt Grothe. He has that effect on everybody.

Doc, I leave the blog for a minute. Try to get back in and it's at CAPACITY! Guess that's a good thing.

If Oregon State played their conference games and THEN their out of conference games, everyone would have a different perception of the Pac-10.
They just play like crap for the first month. For the life of me, I have no idea why.

UTAH and BYU have no shame at all thinking they can get a bid and play the slackest schedules in all of college football. they play army and navy 12 times and are like whats up now? schedule matches with real teams sec big 12 big 10 etc before you want to even mention bowl games.
