Oh, Fox. You are so Fox-y.

I didn't watch the Fox broadcast -- more on my view of last night's game shortly -- but from the sound of things, Thom Brennaman and Charles Davis weren't watching it, either. Keep an eye on the two different on-screen graphics relaying the down and distance, kids, during this crucial moment on the goal line in the second quarter:

Even the New York Times trashes this sequence, and the broadcast in general, which is getting thoroughly bashed pretty much everywhere (though the Gray Lady gives Brennaman a break on his over-the-top Tebow tongue bath). It sounds like it was just a bad night all around for the talking heads. I'm so, so sorry I missed it.

Again the BCS screws up. i am a die hard Texas fan but if anyone deserves the Nat'l Championship it is Utah. Goes to show you all these Eastern Writers are a bunch of Jerks. I still say we need a Play Off system. But I guess these Eastern Over sized egos wilol continue to block a play off system.

Brennaman is so, so horrible. Davis is merely incompetent and slow to follow what's happening; Brennaman talks as if every word out of his mouth should be and is being transcribed onto stone tablets. His obnoxious self-importance is even worse than the fact that neither of them knows any more about college football than your typical Sports Reporters panelist. Good riddance.

Its true, the announcers were terrible. I go into most games fully expecting the announcers to be bad, but these failed to meet even my very low expectations for quality.

Matt....RIGHT ON! Who in the heck is Thom Brennaman? I never heard him call a game before the other FOX BCS game he did. The guys that do local televised high school games in my area are better. FOX better kick it up a notch next year or the viewers will tune out.

The Tebow thing was pretty incredible. I don't usually like squirm with embarrassment, least of all on another's behalf, but I really wanted Brennaman to shut up for his (theoretical) kids' sake.

Absolutely the worst broadcst ever! The announcers couldn't keep track of downs, misidentified players, and made inane comments. I don't know who was calling the camera shots, but there were no replays of several critical penalties, especially personal fouls. Horrible, horrible, horrible . . .

Fox is all about product placement and making sure they show you all the commercialism that is todays overhyped products and TV shows. I agree the announcers were not very good but at least it wasn't Dick Enberg.

I have never been more excited or gracious for a Herby/Musburger broadcast. The three Daves would have been a step up from this shill. Not to mention the incessant advertising both during the game (DID YOU AMERICAN IDOL STARTS THIS TUESDAY?!?!?! I HAD NO IDEA!) and in the numerous breaks. I have never been more upset with coverage of a sporting event than this.

They were the worst broadcasters I've ever seen for a game of this magnitude. On the goal line stand they went nust because they thought OU had gotten stopped on fourth down when it was really only third. Then OU really did get stopped on fourth and they whooped it uo again. No, they are not clairvoyants, just clueless.

fox sports should lose the rights to the bcs for allowing the fools they pay to sit in the booth and speak. I thought the duo they had announcing the Texas Tech/ Alabama game were the worst iI ever heard.. Those of you who are getting ready for the tribulation and the final battle between Jesus and the Anti-Christ, its here. According to last nights broadcast othe championship game Jesus came back to save us all and his name is Tim Tebow. As far as i know the only other person to walk on water other than Tebow was Jesus. So Anti-Christ whoever you are get ready because Tebow is coming after you and he runs the spread option offense.

aside from the obviously screw ups, i found it really irksome that the announcers clearly weren't familiar with the college-specific rules, and consequently, assumed the viewers weren't either. when the uf player got up after a run and made a first down signal, he got the obvious unsportsmanlike flag. thom and charles offered up several possible penalties to cause the flag, but completely missed the easy one for a college football regular. other stuff like harping on the fact that there's no 2-minute warning as in the nfl didn't help either.

MAD CONSUMER if anyone deserves a National Championship it's Utah? Oh ok because I guess you're going to apply some math that fails miserably in footbal and in all sports. Texas beat OU by 10 points, FL beat OU by 10 points. Utah destroyed Bama and FL ONLY won by 11 points. Harvin didn't play against Bama and if you actually had have watched ANY Harvin games you would've known that he would've been just as dominant against Bama as he was against OU.
Texas allowed 35 points against a FAR less skilled OU team than what FL faced. Ole Miss absolutely molested Texas Tech and keep hating but Ole Miss has a very good chance of coming out of the SEC next year (you have no clue though and it's obvious).
The top 2 teams in the nation played eachother and FL dominated. They held the #1 offense in NCAA history to 363 yards of total offense, 14 points, 2 int's and FL had over 10 minutes more posession time.
FL pwns everyone and the SEC owns all other conferences. Can you say DOMINANT?

I know it's a glaring mistake but does that make the broadcast horrible? If you don't like Brennamen just say so. I can't stand to listen to Tim McCarver or Billy Packer. If there isn't a radio broadcast you can listen to while you're watching the game, turn off the sound. Sheesh! This is picky stuff, boys. The players on the field knew what down it was. You knew what down it was. No harm done.

The commentating was horrible, I've heard better on local HS cable broadcasts. Brennaman gushing (literally) about Tebow was shameful. He's not the only media personality that is in a severe mancrush with Tebow, Deinhardt on Rivals is equally as bad along with others on their site, SI's site, Fox's site... They all need to have a sleepover and play dream date.
Watching Tebow and his mannerisms, I don't see an innocent selfless person that wants nothing but good. I see a seemingly arrogant, self centered, angry and mean spirited man, who is focused on self gratification. As he may do alot of good with the missions and his religous showing, it wouldn't suprise me if some of it's not as deep as everyone makes it seem.
Yes this seems scathing, but the media perversion for him is over the top. Bradford and McCoy are both religious leaders on their campuses, but did we hear about any of that? Did we hear about how Bradford's success is starting a movement in the American Indian youth that gives them a view of possible accomplishments? No, this was all kept quiet, with articles about Simple Sam, opposed to articles about Tebow Larger than Life.
Tebow is not the greatest, Bradford is not the greatest, McCoy is not the greatest, but they are definately among some of the greatest.
This isn't limited to just the TebowLove, it was endless about Texas getting "screwed" out of the Big 12 championship, at least an entire half of the OU/OSU bedlam game was about Texas and how they deserved to be above OU, to the point of even having a phone conversation with Brown!
Lets have some actual UNBIASED and EDUCATED commentating/reporting. This biased hype is destroying exciting games.
Cut the crap guys, it's truely worse than anything the BCS could come up with to so called "destroy the game".
