You're in South Bend. It's Senior Day. Notre Dame is playing a nearly meaningless game against Syracuse, easily one of the worst teams in the nation. It's snowing like mad. Most likely, you're a student who's just ready to put in an appearance and get on the road for Thanksgiving break. Obviously, there's only one reasonable course of action:

At first people started by throwing the snow in the air, but then began quickly tossing snowballs toward the Notre Dame sideline.

Defensive lineman Ian Williams got hit in the helmet, defensive end Ethan Johnson was struck on the left cheek and a St. Joseph County police officer on the sideline looking into the crowd got hit in the chest.

An NBC camera man also was a frequent target and several snowballs reached the field, although none landed near where play was occurring.

When the Irish defense held a meeting on the sideline, injured linebacker Brian Smith stood on a bench to try to shield his teammates. But when a snowball hit defensive tackle Pat Kuntz, he stood and faced the crowd and appeared to challenge whoever threw it to come down on the field.

I'm sure Kuntz always dreamed when he arrived in South Bend that one day, if he worked hard enough, persevered and strived to embody the history and pride of Notre Dame Football, he'd walk off the field for his last home game against a hapless opponent while threatening the home crowd for pelting him and his Irish teammates with snowballs. It's all about the memories, people.

I'm not surprised those Notre Dame fans hit so many people. They have a decided schematic advantage when throwing snowballs.

Well, even a shameless Orange fan like me isn't going to try and make the case that we're better than our record...

I have said it for a while CLAUSEN---overated! Much improvement needed, hopefully he'll get it right by his senior year.?...Now lets start with our offensive Guru (Weiss). how is it that your this all mighty, but couldn't figure out that the kids couldn't block to save their lives, and yet you still went for it on 4th and 1. Cost us at least a couple of games(Navy). And, throwing a kid fresh out of HS into the lions den to get chewed up. What was he thinking? Guru... you think you could have developed him a little b4 throwing him out there. Its no wonder he gets gittery and throw you to his opponents. Heck, he got hit so many times last year he's having flashbacks and mistaking the jerseys. It hasn't been much better this year! Im glad this season is over....OH! THAT'S RIGHT WE STILL HAVE USC. MAYBE JUST MAYBE GURU WILL PULL A RABBIT OUT OF HIS HAT FOR THIS ONE. MAYBE JUST MAYBE ? WEISS NEEDS TO GO!!!!!!!!!

How pathetic, this guy Weiss. Noted to be one of the most arrogant people in the business, despised even by those that work closely with him. This is the pay back you deserve for belittling your own assistant coaches, staff, recruits that you talk down to. Now, you have Pete Carrol and his Trojans on a Thanksgiving Saturday night game--On a national stage you deserve--so that you are so completely embarassed and outcoached again. Except this team has infinitely more talent than the one's you've played all year--and have had two weeks to prepare. Adios, mucha!!cho!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great job Jaba Weiss! I can see that turning over the offensive playcalling to you was the right thing to do. I wonder if Tyrone Willingham is getting some sort of satisfaction as he sees the Tarnished Dome continue to falther. I guess it wasn't all his fault.

Im a disgruntled Irish fan. But, in Irish defense(not defending Weiss). The chicago guy didn't have to hype up USC (quit cheerleading), they are talented if your comparing them to a college team vs. a HS JV team. They haven't been really tested. Who have they played? PAC-10? Now thats a joke! Had trouble w/Cal! Had trouble w/Standford! OH! I'm sorry they really got tested by Washington(huskies).(no offense huskie fans). STOP CHEERLING!!!!!.......As i have always said we every male knows the only thing Trojans are good for!
    WEISS MUST GO!!!!!!!!!!
    GO IRISH!!!!!!!!!

Weis turned out to be overrated as a head coach, and the program has been ranked higher than their ability for 20 years. I'm more embarrassed for NBC for wasting all of that money to show a .500 team lose to SU. I have no ties to ND, but it's going to be sad to see how they have to pay off seven years of this guy's contract because if they did it to Williingham and Davie, they're going to have to cut Weis loose with the same winning percentage.

I don't care how bad the performance is, as fans, you shouldn't treat a team that way.
It's a smear on the fans of Notre Dame to sink to the level of throwing things at their team.
I could care less about Notre Dame football or college football, period. To treat players, who sacrifice time and effort to train for their sport, is horrid.
Talk about the coach and criticize all you want behind your screen name on the internet, but those kids deserve better than that.
The fans should be ashamed of themselves.

Yah Syracuse. Finally. I guess Greg Robinson just has to know he doesn't have a job anymore to do good... gosh. And finally, now that we see the freshman are actually TALENTED like they always have been, a new coach can actually do something with them. Crazy game. I held my breath at that final field goal attempt...

All those big wigs in the AD office at the dome ever needed to do was gi9ve Greg some $ for a recruiting budget so he could recruit natiowide like his opponents do. It's hard to be restricted like he was and win.
    Great job Greg.
Oh by the way, if you check my comments fro three years ago, after seeing Clausen play in the Chapionship game here in Calif, I said who would want this guy. He has no leadership skills at all and whines like crazy to the refs.
