Dr. Saturday - NCAAF

For the record, this changes nothing. The statute of limitations for whining about first half officiating errors is halftime, at most, and much less for piddling business like this. But yeah, so, OK, maybe Stafon Johnson didn't technically score on 4th-and-1 on USC's first possession Saturday night:

That sequence occurred less than four minutes into the game. Knowing Ohio State, the Buckeyes would have fumbled in their own end zone for a USC touchdown on the next play, All The Right Moves style, been demoralized by the irony and lost by thirty. Or OSU would have been hit for a safety, given up a subsequent short field touchdown, been demoralized to be down two scores so quickly and lost by thirty. So it probably turned out as well for the Buckeyes as they could have hoped, given that they were bound and determined to lose a game that more or less fell into their laps, anyway.

Why were you even looking at this picture if you claim that "The statute of limitations for whining about first half officiating errors is halftime, at most,". Move on to another article topic i think you've exhausted osu vs. usc

I remember back when you used to write about football instead of just trying to piss people off to gain hits. You used to be better than this.

That does take a bit of talent to make both sides mad at you.
It was not a touchdown, not based solely on this pic, based on this pic and video from the other side. The video shows it better.
However, it is not safe to assume the outcome had this play been correctly called. Yeah, OSU may have still lost, but maybe not. Why was this not called correctly? Was it reviewed? I missed the first quarter, so didn't see this until later. So I don't know if they reviewed it.

tressel can only blame himself for not reviewing it, 4th n goal n its that close n you don't even take a chance to review it? a timeout is not much of a risk to prevent 7 points going up on the scoreboard for USC

Because the guy used to write insightful columns. Now he's just a petty hater with an agenda--piss everyone off to make sure the traffic flows to the blog.

I applaud the Doc. I don't think his purpose was to piss off as much as it was to bring attention to something that many fans missed. I mised it. I'm glad he brought it to our attention. Should USC fans be pissed, uh no? OSU absolutely, because the Doc's prediction is accurate, the bucks would have crapped the bed in that situation, no doubt.

This doesn't matter....Pryor made a crap pass that lead to this--too bad OSU. Also, if it wasn't for Jim "I suck balls at coaching offense" Tressel, we would have won. 1:03 left in the first half after a missed field goal by USC, 3 and 8--not moving the ball, and USC has NO timeouts to stop the clock...what does Jimmy call!? A PASS! A MOTHER F'ING PASS! Run the ball and take the momentum into the 'room! That is stuff they teach you how to coach in Middle School! And the man getting paid a million dollars a year--doesn't get it. I love OSU, and I can't stand Tressel!

I thought the same thing watching it live that he did not get in. In fact, the ref with the best view ran in to that exact spot while the other ref threw his hands up and it took ten years for them to signal td. The question is why the booth didn't review it but reviewed every other borderline meaningless play.

wait, somebody correct me if Im wrong. if the ball crosses the plain of the endzone, then it does not matter where the players knee is down. same goes for downing punts and diving attempts to score in the front corner of the endzone where the body of the player may actually go out of bounds at the 1 yard line but still count for a TD. obviously the ball has to cross the goalline prior (or at least simultaneously) to the knee going down, but you cant judge whether that is the case from the photo.
Based on my statement above, this article is a total waste of time and matt should be looking for work outside of sportswriting. Or, more likely, I'm a retard who should check the CFB rulebook before making stupid posts.

Did you make these observations in the Rose bowl when Vince's Youngs knee was down and they did not reivew? Everyone in the united States say that cleanly.
Admit that one up front and then you can strat cherry picking the weekly awful calls in college football.
At least in college they review the palys to get the right call. They don't involve strategy to ge the the right call like the NFl so we can all watch more Chevy Truck Commercials
