Fun while it lasted

Well, Rutgers had its day, won a couple bowl games, and that was fun. But I'd say the egg the Knights laid in front of the country tonight officially moved them from "respectable/on the brink of good," to "totally regressed," and with that Greg Schiano's viability as a hot prospect for bigger jobs gasps its terminal breaths.

Not to take away from a young North Carolina team clearly poised to make good on its preseason hype as an insurgent ACC title contender, but surely the Heels won't see that many wide open receivers or poorly-thrown passes directly into their defenders' arms again. Maybe against Duke? Rutgers thought it was past that, I'm sure, but the post-Ray Rice Knights are rapidly revising expectations in the wrong direction.

I might also note that this strongly diminishes my faith in Fresno State (against Wisconsin and as a BCS buster), now that their of beating Rutgers has been severely devalued.

Regardless, this is probably the most impressive an ACC team has looked this season. While Rutgers played poorly, they also stubbornly threw the ball 15-25 yards downfield against 7-8 man zone coverages against a team whose strength is their safeties.
I think you also have to give credit to Yates, the three or four times when he could have sat back in the pocket past 3 seconds and thrown to a covered receiver or gotten sacked, he tucked it down and got what he could. In identical situations, Teel threw picks.
After watching UNC its hard to say that any of their remaining games aren't winnable.. and they may be favored in at least 8 more games this season.. The line on the VT game should be close.. nearly a toss up. Right now it's hard to say that UNC isn't the frontrunner in their division. GT should get some consideration. I reserve judgment on Miami until Shannon proves he can coach something resembling offense.

i want to apologize to drew weatherford. mike teel is far and away the worst multi-yearstarter as a 5th year senior qb.

You know your program sucks when the "good ol' days" were finishing third in conference and calling ten friends until you finally found someone with DirecTV who would let you come over and watch the Texas Bowl.
As much as Syracuse sucks, I'd still rather be us than Rutgers.

Sorry Tomahawk...but Sean Glennon is definitely the worth multi-year starter, 5th year Senior QB.
    3-8, 42 Yds, 1TD, 1INT against D-1AA FURMAN. Give the man a prize...then show him the door.

I think the ACC is investigating UNC football for "too much excitement" which coud lead to "fan interest" in the conference.

Funny what happens when you have a one-man program and that man leaves for the NFL. Rutgers sucked before Ray Rice got there, and they're going to suck now that he's gone.
P.S. The Big East is absolutely dreadful so far this year. If USF doesn't deliver tonight it may be time to prepare the last rites.
