Dr. Saturday - NCAAF

Finally, the secrets of Bowden's success revealed. Coach, you're down 10-6 to the worst team in the conference. How do you get your line back in the game?

God is on FSU's side, it seems: the Noles outscored NC State 20-7 in the second half and drew zero penalties, period, after the break (seriously, I'm sure they didn't hold once) to move to 5-1. They don't call him "Saint Bobby" for nothing.

Scheduling the shoulder surgery he deserves. OK, see, Cullen Harper's not getting benched in favor of Willy Korn at Clemson. He just has this thing with his shoulder, according to an MRI on Wednesday, which will require the senior quarterback to undergo surgery at some point during the season. Just not before Saturday, when Korn makes his first start against Georgia Tech, just in case, you know, it turns out they really need Harper, after all. Once the kids gets his feet under him, Cullen will go under the knife and probably miss two or three games.

Also out: amazing disappearing man C.J. Spiller, with a simpy hamstring that might sideline him for the next two or three games as well.

Honestly, local media, I completely ignore my coach. Ex-Colorado quarterback and current CU running backs coach Darian Hagan is trying to teach interstellar recruiting coup Darrell Scott the necessity of playing through the pain after two months of nagging tics and sprains. I'm sure Hagan will be glad to know, following another annoying ankle sprain in practice this week, that Scott is taking his coach's advice to heart:

"Honestly, you don't pay attention to him," Scott said. "You just do your best and try to recover fast. I'm not worried about him, I'm worried about me.

"I don’'t care if he's questioning me. I know my limits and I know what I can do."

Texas, the jilted suitor in the Courting of Darrell Scott, is feeling for the kid. Really, they are.

Quickly ... 'It' is coming to Syracuse, although players and fans probably disagree on exactly what 'it' is. . . . Why can't Ohio State protect Terrelle Pryor? Maybe a shakeup on the offensive line would help, but it won't be with hyped freshmen J.B. Shugarts or Mike Adams, who are out for the season. . . . If you're going to the LSU-South Carolina game in Columbia, beware the State Fair gridlock. Plus the Gamecocks are moving on former Clemson commitments. . . . Why doesn't Michigan take a chance on freshman scrambler Justin Feagin? Perhaps you haven't seen the kid try to throw in practice. . . . It's a true test of Miami's defense Saturday against ... wait, Duke? . . . Oregon needs to keep its fans off the field until opposing players are off. And sometime-quarterback Chris Harper may be a receiver for good. . . . Running back-turned-linebacker Mon Williams is hoping to transfer from Florida. . . . Former Tennessee and San Diego Chargers defensive end Chris Mims was found dead Wednesday in his Los Angeles apartment. . . . Joe McKnight will miss USC's trip to Pullman to play the worst team in Pac-10 history. . . . Apparently the Atlanta Journal-Constitution doesn't have anything better to do than compare the SEC and Big 12. Gosh, I wonder what the people of Atlanta think about that matchup? . . . And on the eighth Saturday, the Tebow Child rested. He'll limit awe, conversion and emergency hygienic procedures this weekend to the greater Gainesville area.

As far as halftime interviews with the coach running off the field go, that was pretty damn good.

FSU was called for one holding penalty in the second half on a scramble by Ponder.

Not a big FSU fan (Roll Tide!) but have always liked/respected Coach Bobby Bowden. RE: post#3..that is just a weak attempt to get more hits for that lame website "loving rich." Plenty of other sites, forums, blogs for you to sell your garbage.

FSU got called for a hold in the second half, honestly though there are holds on every play pretty much. Sometimes they are more obvious than others but the ones called on fsu in the first half were the happens every play type which is why bobby was so upset that NONE were called on NC St in the first half.

Can they please just do away with those uncomfortable interviews altogether? They add nothing. I don't need to hear a canned comment that he doesn't even want to give. Some producer at one of the networks decided that this was the formula so now we have to endure these stupid, say-nothing interviews. "Well coach, how do you get your team back in the game in the second half?"
"We have to play better defense." "We have to be more physical." "we need to control field position." "This team has a lot of heart...."

Personally, I'm sick and tired of seeing that blonde sack of hammers all over ESPN. I'm serious - who owes who or has someones stones in the vise that they have to put his chick on The Worldwide at every opportunity. I dislike sideline reporters as a general rule, but this one makes me nostalgic for Lesley Visser.

Personally, I think the reason they have E.A. doing the half-time harassment is they know if a guy was that asnnoying, somebody would clock him. You can't hit girls, but can't you just tell 'em to take a hike?

Mr. Hinton, did you happen to watch the FSU - NC State game? The Noles were called for 5 holding penalties in the first half, killing every single drive, while the Wolfpack were called for none (seriously, I'm sure they didn't hold once). That is the point Coach Bowden was making. By the way, they were also flagged for a holding penalty in the second half - perhaps you need to correct your "column".

I *LOVE* Erin Andrews on the sideline. Just look at her, don't listen to her! Too bad as Fall weather moves in, she has to wear more clothes 8-)

I could give a rat's fat patooty about half-time interviews. And sideline interviews. And 1/2 long invasions of the broadcast booths by "guests" who do nothing but detract from the game, if not obliterate it.
Other than updates on other games in progress, I'd much rather watch and listen to the bands from the various schools as they perform.

Here's a solution that will make everybody happy. Get Erin to interview a liquored-up Joe Namath at halftime of every game.

Way off #16. Just put Erin in a bikini top, take the microphone away from her, and just put the camera on her for the 2 minutes she usually interviews someone. Who would object to that?

I'd like to say something about USC's big win yesterday. Now I know a lot of folks out there are asking why is USC ranked so low. Well them beating Washington State or really most anyone in the Pac 10 is like other conferences beating teams in thier preseason games. You can't compare the pac 10 to the Big 12 and who they compete against. USC may be a good team but as many conferences have learned over the years sometimes it depends on how easy it is to beat a bad conference and how anyone in the Big 12 could accomplish the same thing.

I talked to Bill Belichek and he said go f563 myself. Seriously, the only thing worse than some chick that can´t even tell you what a lateral is interviewing a coach trying to get off the field is ESPN and that stupid 5th inning coach interview. Erin Andrews is an annoying c-bag and that part of the game needs to go. Can you possibly imagine if you were losing to a team 35-0 at halftime and some blond came up to you and asked what went wrong. Thats like somebody coming over to me at my job after not landing a customer and asking me what went wrong and how I can fix it. Coaches must get fined for not doing it or something because those answers seem pretty tame. It would actually be more interesting to see some fruitcake asking the questions, that would get a much better answer
