Georgia came out for its Cocktail Party warm-ups in the classic Bulldog duds: Red helmets, famed silver britches, white facemasks -- what else would they be wearing?

CBS analyst Verne Lundquist wasn't sure what to make of the switch; from the game, our resident Georgia fan reports that he's "gobsmacked." Twitter wonders "Why is Florida playing Grambling?" I'm curiuos about the history: The last time the Red and Black actually wore black hats was ... well, I don't have that kind of color-specific research at my disposal, but I'm confident that it hasn't happened in my lifetime (i.e. roughly post-Herschel, in Dawg years). The great Frank Sinkwich, who was no stranger to bizarre headgear, never wore one, so today's get-up is potentially without precedent.

But as my fraying jeans can attest, I'm no expert; all I know is that "modern" doesn't mean what television fashionistas think it means, and that even the TV poseurs would never describe red facemasks on black helmets as "modern." What say you, reader?

If I were a Georgia fan, crap like this would worry me as much about Richt as the season results. I guess playing a top ranked rival to regain national respect and salvage a season isn't motivation enough without HS helmets.
But they're black! Look kids, we're edgy and tough! Hey, why do we keep getting so many penalties?

Wow. Just answer whether or not you like the helmets.
But I do like them. Nothing wrong with a change now and then.

this website seems to think the black helmets have never happened before.
i personally don't like them, mainly b/c i think uga's regular unis are pretty damn sweet.
there are rumors of more uniform wackiness coming from the vols tonight too.

I think it was a good move, because we can just act like Florida didn't beat us, but rather whipped Grambling. Very clever and sly. BTW, why is Florida playing 3 Div 1A teams this year?!

Black helmets had never been worn before today. They wore black pants twice under Donnan, 98-99ish, once against Florida and once against Wisconsin in the Outback Bowl. Black jerseys twice in 2007 against Auburn & Hawaii in the Sugar.
Verdict: silly, and don't even look good. Good teams don't need gimmicks. Should've spent more time practicing fundamentals and less time on uniform selection.
The silver lining in today's blowout is we are less likely to break out this foolishness again.

didn't like the uniforms, didn't like the play, just glad it was finally over---still a fan but totally embarrassed-----by the way Teabow does break the record however Walker did it in three years not four.

Maybe Richt should try out for Project Runway. He seems more interested in fashion than winning football games.

The uniforms were fine with me. The coaching and playing weren't. Things must change. There is way too much talent on the Georgia side of the line to look as pathetic as they have against Florida and Tennessee, and earlier. Is there any motivation, any will to win. Where are the fundamentals coaches are supposed to coach.

And by the way Walker was a running back,Not a quarterback so How many more times would he get the ball to score
Maris broke Ruth's 60 Home Run in 61 games and Ruth did his in 54
    It took
Rose over 5000 at bats more than Lou to break the hit record
So what if Tebow did it in 4 years, He still did it

so, 2 weeks to work on beating our biggest rival who has killed us for the better part of 20 years now and the best Mark Richt and company can come up with is black uniforms? that's a pretty good sign of where the program is heading. forget good game planning, gimmicks will work...at least we were dressed appropriately for the burial of any hope we fans had of ever being a top tier program again.
