ESPN's respectable gridiron studio show, College Football Live will abandon its core audience of warm, right-minded, joy-loving football fans and shut-ins next Monday, when CFL plans to launch a week of shows dedicated to Notre Dame. As a stay-at-home blogger, I frankly don't know how I'll find the strength to draw breath without my daily respite from round-the-clock Brett Favre and PED coverage. (I hear there's baseball on in the afternoons, right?)

Basically, CFL looked around, realized how many shows it had on tap between now and August, and turned into a blog. On tap for Monday is a discussion of what it will take to get the Irish back into a BCS bowl -- this must be an hour-long edition -- followed by an extensive breakdown of the offense on Tuesday; Wednesday, they'll cover the defensive depth chart before returning to the BCS bowl issue on Thursday in terms of "impact players" who can get them there, finally wrapping with a game-by-game breakdown of the schedule ("I don't see any reason they can't win 'em all, Rece, do you?") and a very special chat you won't want to miss with the one and only Jimmy Clausen. Charlie Weis, defensive coordinator Corwin Brown and various players will be stopping by to pad a few minutes offer some probing insight.

Notre Dame is apparently just one of a series of schools the show intends to examine in depth during the long dark of the offseason, but I can think of far better draws than five days of waking up the echoes and hearing Weis explain how his new hoverboard will enable him to coach both sidelines at once and prevent another home loss to Syracuse. (Because they're not playing Syracuse! Mission accomplished.) Why not a week in the company of Mike Leach and his pirate hordes! Pete Carroll performing waterskiing tricks while discussing international relations with a coterie of lovely coeds! The blasted wastelands of Arizona, with your host, Dennis Erickson! We beseech you, Worldwide Leader: Be kind. It's a long march to August, and our patience does not test well.

^ I assume that's because she's a woman. Dude, that's an entirely dickish and pigheaded thing to say. She's one of the best CFB writers on the internet. Think about what you say before you say it, because otherwise, you just might make a complete fool of yourself (like you just did).

Maybe he said Holly Anderson knows nothing about football because he just read her retarded blog entry. The one where she is very daring and insightful and makes lame anti-ND jokes.
Agree with the previous poster, this team will be top 10 next season.

If by "top 10" you two mean "they'll get owned by USC as usual, make it seven losses in a row at home against MSU, lose one more random game, and beat nine patsies, get horribly overrated because they're Notre Dame, and get annihilated in a BCS game", then yes, they'll be top 10.

The lady doth protest too much, methinks. Seriously Holly, ESPN is a business much like any other. They're trying to drum up interest in their show, sell ad time, etc. etc. etc. There are few programs in the country that can provide a national following like Notre Dame. Love it or hate it (I can't quite figure out where you fall) that's why they'll be on a full week. I can only assume your list of schools was 2/3rds facetious. Texas Tech and ASU? Really? These are the schools they would feature for a week and have a bigger draw? Silly arguments like this will only serve to belittle future arguments you may make.

Help us Touchdown Jesus! Thank goodness I rarely watch ESPN anyway, but this is just ridiculous. Top 10 huh? Heh. BTW Holly is a fantastic writer...it's great to see a chick that KNOWS college football and can write about it in such an entertaining way.

What I really want ESPN to tell me is whether Notre Dame is "Now" or not.

If ESPN covering ND for a week is terribly boring and lame, then what does that make a certain blog that discusses ESPN being lame and boring for discussing ND for a week?

    @ A C
Well, it might make the certain blog "boring and lame" as well, but more importantly, it would make them correct.

Writing about something that you dont care about sure makes for interesting reading. Not. Those are three minutes of my life I'll never get back. Maybe you should go get a real job instead of being a stay at home blogger writing terrible articles.

If you'll all excuse me, I need to go have a good cry. Crying from hysterical laughter. Over the idea of Notre Dame cracking the top ten. Cheers, one and all, you have absolutely made my week. I mean that.

Thomas K's response to losing three minutes of his life he'll never get back is to spend another three minutes banging out a douchebag comment. Top score, Thomas K.
(Actually, I'll bet it took him more like 15-20 minutes.)

Lets get real folks. As long as Notre Dame tries to malntain some kind of academic standards and everyone else is letting absolutley anybody come on campus, they will never again contend for the national championship. Did you catch some of those geniuses they interviewed on draft day? Crip courses, ringer proffessors, term papers on file in the coaches office, advance copies of exams, and the list goes on. It happens everywhere , not just BCS schools. As long as the money keeps flowing, the Chancellors at the schools will continue to look the other way. After all, you wouldn't want to piss off ESPN!

Is everyone an ND hater or just too closed minded to see the future of ND Football? Maybe it's the jealousy that comes from splitting the income from football with all the other substandard teams in the conferences? Everyone please grab a sheet of paper and write this down...if your education from your state school taught you how to do that....ND will continue to have one of the highest graduation rates in the country and they will contend for the National Championship! If you are unable to form complete sentences...try stick men. I heard there are a lot of schools that actually teach that as a major.
