Weird, wild and prolific stats from Saturday's action.
• Miami quarterback Jacory Harris passed for 319 yards and a touchdown but also threw four interceptions, two of them returned for touchdowns for Kendric Burney, in the 'Canes' 33-24 loss at North Carolina. It was Harris' fifth multi-interception game of the season, after throwing two apiece in wins over Florida State, Oklahoma and Florida A&M and three in the overtime loss to Clemson, and leaves him with more picks on the year (16) than any other quarterback in the country.
• Four of South Carolina's six second-half possessions resulted in negative yardage and the other two ended with interceptions in the Gamecocks' 24-14 loss at the hands of Florida.
• Houston, one of of only two teams nationally that averages 80 plays per game on offense, ran only four plays in the second quarter of its 37-32 upset loss at Central Florida, thanks to two long UCF drives interrupted by a UH kickoff return. The Cougars still got off 72 snaps for the game, for 432 yards, but turned the ball over five times in the loss.
• Oklahoma hung 640 yards total offense on Texas A&M, 393 via the arm of quarterback Landry Jones, who had five touchdown passes in the Sooners' 65-10 rout in Norman. The blowout was the second time this season the Aggies have allowed 60-plus points in a loss, and the tenth time in two seasons under Mike Sherman that an opponent has vanquished A&M with at least 40 points.
• Louisville was held to 151 yards total offense, its lowest output of the decade, in a 10-9 win over Syracuse, more than half of them coming on the Cardinals' final two drives.
• Beginning in the second quarter, Wisconsin scored on six of its last seven possessions in a 45-24 win over Michigan, five of them on touchdown drives covering at least 60 yards. The Badgers ran 52 times and finished with a nearly twelve-minute advantage in time of possession.
• Alabama's two biggest stars, receiver Julio Jones and running back Mark Ingram scored touchdowns on back-to-back one-play "drives" in the fourth quarter of Bama's 31-3 win at Mississippi State, first on a 48-yard pass to Jones from Greg McElroy and then on a 70-yard bolt up the gut by Ingram. • Two weeks after passing for more than 400 yards in a shootout win over Michigan State, Minnesota was held to 95 yards passing with five sacks and failed to score an offensive touchdown in a 16-13 win over I-AA South Dakota State.
• Purdue ran 92 plays to Michigan State's 49, outgained the Spartans by 160 total yards, and lost, 40-37, eliminating the Boilermakers from bowl contention.
• C.J. Spiller accounted for 158 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns -- one rushing, one receiving and one passing -- in the Tigers' 43-25 win over N.C. State.
• Missouri scored on three touchdown drives covering at least 80 yards, requiring a grand total of 17 plays and 4:22 of possession time in a 38-12 win at Kansas State. All three drives ended with touchdown passes from Blaine Gabbert to Danario Alexander, covering 54, 16 and 80 yards.
• Virginia Tech quarterback Tyrod Taylor passed for 268 yards and three touchdowns for a pass efficiency rating of 197.4 in the Hokies' 36-9 win over Maryland.
• Boise State scored touchdowns on each of its first five possessions in a 63-25 win over in-state rival Idaho, which racked up more than 500 yards total offense on the Broncos but committed seven turnovers (including five interceptions) to Boise's zero.
• UTEP racked up more than 600 total yards -- led by 395 passing by Trevor Vittatoe and 240 on the ground by Donald Buckram -- and at one point went on consecutive touchdown drives of 70, 99 and 80 yards, yet still lost at SMU, 35-31, despite also finishing +1 in turnover margin. Mustang running back Shawnbrey McNeal had 170 yards rushing on just 18 carries.
• UCLA piled up 556 total yards in a 43-7 laugher at Washington State, the Bruins' first 500-yard game on offense since September 2007, but didn't produce a 100-yard rusher or receiver in the process.
• Air Force ran 71 times for 431 yards and also had over 100 yards passing in a 45-17 rout over UNLV.
