Weird, wild and prolific stats from Saturday's action.

• Against my prediction, Oregon State racked up more points (36) and more yards (482) against USC than any offense has gained against the Trojans on either count since Texas' win in the 2006 Rose Bowl, and lost, 42-36.

• A year after scoring five touchdowns in five first half possessions in a 56-31 humiliation of Missouri in Austin, Texas scored four touchdowns in five first half possessions, all covering at least 60 yards, in a 41-7 humiliation of Mizzou in Columbia.

• Navy dropped back to pass twice but was sacked on both occasions, finishing with 338 yards rushing and zero pass attempts in a 13-10 win over Wake Forest.

• Ball State running backs MiQuale Lewis and Cory Sykes combined for 504 yards rushing -- 301 by Lewis and 203 by Sykes -- in the Cardinals' first win of the season, a 29-27 triumph over Eastern Michigan. BSU finished with one yard and one interception on 2-of-10 passing.

• On the opposite end of the spectrum, Duke quarterback Thaddeus Lewis passed for 371 yards and two touchdowns, his third straight week over 350 yards in the air, in the Blue Devils' 17-13 win over Maryland to push their record to 4-3.

• Backup quarterback Zach Collaros hit 15 of 17 passes for 253 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions in place of injured Tony Pike in Cincinnati's 41-10 rout over Louisville.

• Clemson running back C.J. Spiller had "only" 81 yards rushing, but added another 104 receiving and 125 on kick returns, scoring long touchdowns by both means in the Tigers' 40-37 overtime win over Miami.

• After sacking BYU quarterback Max Hall six times in a 32-7 win last year in Forth Worth, TCUsacked Hall five times Saturday in a 38-7 massacre in Provo. Four different Frogs got in on the action, including All-American Jerry Hughes, who only had one sack after getting to Hall four times in '08.

• Ole Miss' Dexter McCluster, lining up as a running back, Wildcat back and receiver, racked up 260 total yards on 29 touches with one touchdown in the Rebels' 30-17 win over Arkansas. Ole Miss finished with 553 total yards for its first back-to-back 500-yard games since Eli Manning was aboard in 2003.

• Indiana scored three touchdowns on its first four possessions and ran a kickoff back for a 28-3 lead over Northwestern, then failed to score again over the final two-and-a-half quarters in a 29-28 loss. The Wildcats hit the winning field goal with 21 seconds on the clock.

• UAB gained 432 yards, didn't turn the ball over and yet somehow didn't score a touchdown in a 27-3 loss at Marshall.

• Kansas quarterback Todd Reesing threw a career-high three interceptions, all in the first half and one returned for a touchdown, in the Jayhawks' 35-13 loss to Oklahoma.

• UConn quarterback Cody Endres passed for 378 yards, the Huskies' first 300-yard passing game since October 2004, in a 28-24 loss at West Virginia.

• Oklahoma State quarterback Zac Robinson completed 23 of 27 passes to nine different receivers with three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Cowboys' 34-7 win over Baylor.

• Cal running backs Jahvid Best and Shane Vereen combined for more than 300 total yards for the second week in a row and scored five touchdowns in the Bears' 49-17 pounding of Washington State.

• In the second and third quarters alone, Hawaii committed five turnovers and a turnover on downs and was outscored by 34-0 in an eventual 54-9 loss to Boise State.

• Florida Atlantic blew up for 624 yards and seven touchdowns in a 51-29 rout over Louisiana-Lafayette, including touchdown passes of 70 and 64 yards from Rusty Smith to Chris Bonner.

• Middle Tennessee State piled up 646 total yards and eight touchdowns in a 62-24 bashing of still-winless Western Kentucky. MTSU quarterback Dwight Dasher finished with 355 yards passing and another 66 on the ground.

• And lastly in Sun Belt Row, Troy exploded for 697 total yards -- 469 on the arm of quarterback Levi Brown -- in a 50-26 win over North Texas.
