I don't know much about Barry Alvarez's private life or secret desires, but my guess is the former Wisconsin coach/current Badger athletic director has never had any significant link to lithe tennis goddess Maria Sharapova. Until, that is, a member of Alvarez's 1999 Rose Bowl team, Leonard Taylor Jr., threatened to hunt down and murder them both:
Taylor, 32, of Indianapolis, was charged with stalking and telephone harassment for the calls he made, which included an angry threat he made on Nov. 24 that he would come to Madison and kill Alvarez and his family within 24 hours, the complaint states.
"I'll kill you first, mother (expletive)," Taylor said, according to the complaint. "I've got 24 (expletive) hours mother (expletive). I'm coming for your (expletive) ass. You might have a (expletive) war."
Later in the message he told Alvarez that he wanted to look at him one last time "before I pull the (expletive) trigger, Barry."
[...]
... the calls resumed on Nov. 24 when he left 29 messages for Alvarez on that day and the next. They consisted of threats against Alvarez and references to how Alvarez and tennis star Maria Sharapova had done injustices to Taylor in various ways. Taylor said he wanted to marry Sharapova but also kill her and her family.
If this sounds crazy, it's because obviously, yes, Taylor is crazy: Taylor's father told police last week that his son had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and had been avoiding both his therapist and his medication for months. Taylor was arrested in Indiana on Friday after calling Alvarez to complain about a then-nonexistent arrest warrant and threatened to come to Madison over the Thanksgiving weekend. Clearly, if the accusations are true, he is a sick man who should not be allowed outside of protective custody without serious therapy, serious medication and a serious person to make sure he's taking the regimen seriously, and not making extremely random and frightening death threats. I'm not that kind of doctor, but I think schizophrenia is largely manageable if handled conscientiously.
And if Maria, you know, wants to just talk it out or whatever, Barry's always there for her.

On behalf of everyone who reads this blog/column, let me pass along the fervent wish that you are hit by truck. You comment on every story of Matt's with the same stupid phrase, which either means you a) have no life, or b) have no life worth living.
The answer to your question is "no". No, you penis-gobbling turd....we can't all just get along.
