Lazar Hayward scored 27 points and Jimmy Butler added 15 to help Marquette beat Xavier 71-61 on Thursday at the Old Spice Classic. Hayward had two 3's and David Cubillan hit a long-range jumper during an 11-0 run that put the Golden Eagles (5-0) up 64-55 with four minutes to play. Jason Love had 21 points and 19 rebounds for Xavier (3-1).

Jordan Crawford scored 15 of his career-high 24 points in the first half as Xavier's outside shooters took advantage of Bowling Green's zone defense, and the Musketeers showed their scoring balance while pulling away to a 101-57 victory on Tuesday night. Xavier (2-0) shot 64.8 percent (35-for-54) from the field in its most lopsided victory in two years.

Jordan Crawford scored 14 points to lead five Xavier players in double-figure scoring in an 83-57 win over Youngstown State in the season opener for both teams on Friday night. Jason Love and Mark Lyons scored 12 points apiece, Brad Redford 11 and Terrell Holloway 10 for the Musketeers. Love led the team with eight rebounds and Holloway went 2-for-3 from beyond the arc.
