Losing the conference player of the year is no deterrent for Utah State winning the WAC.

The Aggies overcame the loss of guard Jaycee Carroll after the 2007-08 season,turning around to win the WAC regular-season championship and the conference tournament and advance to the NCAA Tournament, where Utah State fell just short of a first-round upset, losing 58-57 to Marquette.

The major loss from that 30-5 team is power forward Gary Wilkinson, who won top individual honors in the league after posting averages of 17.1 points and 6.8 rebounds. The Aggies also lose backup guard Stavon Williams, whose main contribution was his 3-point shooting off the bench (46 3-pointers).
