UCLA's Honeycutt out with leg injury (AP)

UCLA's Tyler Honeycutt will be out 3 to 4 weeks with a stress reaction in his right tibia. Coach Ben Howland said Sunday the freshman forward was injured a day earlier in practice and an MRI confirmed the injury. The Bruins open the season on Nov. 16 against Cal State Fullerton.

Michael Roll joined the list of injured UCLA basketball players when he sprained his right ankle. Roll got hurt during practice Sunday and will see a doctor Monday, when it will be determined how much time he will miss. The Bruins already have five scholarship players on the inactive list because of injury.

UCLA's J'mison Morgan to miss practice time (AP)

UCLA center J'mison Morgan will miss up to four practices as he waits for swelling in his left knee to subside. A team spokesman said Thursday that an MRI on Morgan's knee was negative and he will continue daily rehabilitation while sitting out the practices. Morgan is one of six UCLA players who have been injured since practice began last week.

Sophomore Jerime Anderson, expected to be UCLA's starting point guard, missed the first official practice because of a strained left groin. Anderson sat out Friday night after injuring himself earlier in the week. Coach Ben Howland said he will miss the team's first four practices, but could return Wednesday.

Darren Collison was 86-18 as a starting point guard during his UCLA career.

Gone.

Alfred Aboya and Josh Shipp combined with Collison to play in 424 games for the Bruins.

Also gone.

Even Jrue Holiday, after just one season in Westwood, is gone ... to the NBA.

The Bruins aren't exactly starting over in coach Ben Howland's seventh season, but they are turning to a new chapter. Those three straight Final Four appearances from 2006 to 2008 are in the rear-view mirror. So are the 123 victories (and just 26 defeats) from the past four seasons.

UCLA fans will need to check their programs this season. With four starters gone from last season's team that finished 26-9, the Bruins have plenty of new faces. Freshman forward Tyler Honeycutt has been cleared to participate when the team holds its first official practice on Friday night. He was diagnosed with a lower back stress fracture in July.
