Demond Watt scored 17 points as Texas A&M-CC defeated Nicholls State, 71-46, in Southland Conference play on Saturday night. The Islanders (12-10, 6-2) were leading 16-13 in the first and went on a 17-0 run to take a 31-13 lead. A two-game losing streak was no reason to panic.
Texas A&M Corpus Christi players knew that, even if the fan base were growing a little nervous after a pair of setbacks Jan. 30 to Sam Houston State and Feb. 3 at UT-Arlington.
A 25-point win over Nicholls State with star Kevin Palmer only needing to score six points, and snapping a 43-game double-digit scoring streak of his own, was a good sign there aren't any lingering effects of the back-to-back losses.
