Jarvis Varnado had 12 points, 15 rebounds and eight blocks to lead Mississippi State to a 75-50 victory over Texas-Pan American on Tuesday night. Mississippi State (3-1) shot 52.6 percent from the field and hit nine shots from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs held the Broncs (0-5) to 19-for-65 shooting from the field, and have held their past three opponents to an average of 38.8 percent shooting.

Kim English scored a career-high 25 points and Missouri defeated Texas-Pan American 100-44 Sunday in the opening round of the South Padre Island Invitational. The Tigers (2-0) trailed 8-4 before taking control with 28 unanswered points. Ben Smith led the Broncs (0-4) with 15 points, all on 3-pointers.

Kevin Palmer had a game-high 17 points and Horace Bond added 15 to lead Texas A&M-Corpus Christi past Texas-Pan American 77-55 Thursday night. Palmer was 7 of 12 from the field, and Bond was 7 of 10. Justin Reynolds added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Islanders (2-2). Luis Valera had 10 points to lead the Broncs (0-3).

Lamar holds off Texas-Pan American, 77-72 (AP)

Kendrick Harris scored 24 points and Lamar survived a late charge by Texas-Pan American to win 77-72 Monday night. Lamar (2-0) led 37-28 at halftime and led by as many as 15 points midway through the second half. But Texas-Pan American came back and when Nick Weiermiller hit a 3 with 19 seconds to play, Lamar's lead was down to 73-72.

Louisiana Tech beats Texas-Pan American 80-62 (AP)

Olu Ashaolu scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds on Saturday as Louisiana Tech cruised past Texas-Pan American 80-62 in the season opener for both teams. Ashaolu went six of eight from the field and six of eight from the line to lead all scorers. Kyle Gibson added 16 points for Louisiana Tech, DeAndre Brown had 13 and Magnum Rolle had 12.
