London Giles scored 17 points Wednesday night to help SMU break a three-game losing streak with a 64-50 victory over Tulane. Giles scored at least 10 for the 18th straight game for the Mustangs (12-16, 3-10 Conference USA). Leslee Smith grabbed 11 rebounds, and Jeremiah Samarrippas had seven assists. Tulane's season slid another notch in the wrong direction Wednesday with a 64-50 loss at SMU—the Green Wave's fourth loss in a row and sixth in the last seven games.
Now, with a losing record in Conference USA assured, Tulane has to find motivation in other ways. That shouldn't be tough the next time out when the Wave entertains Tulsa in New Orleans.
The Golden Hurricane is in the thick of the C-USA hunt with a 9-4 record after an 0-2 start in league play. One of those wins was at Tulane's expense—a 60-56 decision when the Wave shot a trepid 24 percent from the field (6-of-24) in the second half after leading 32-25 at halftime.
