Justin Nabors grabbed a double-double, scoring 12 points and pulling down 10 rebounds, to lead Lamar to a 49-46 win over Stephen F. Austin on Saturday night. The Lumberjacks, obviously, are hoping to return to the postseason after winning the Southland Conference the past two years.
Their No. 1 ally seems to be playing in the East Division.
The Lumberjacks are 6-3 in league play, and two of those losses had come to West Division teams—Lamar on Feb. 6 and Sam Houston State on Jan. 9.
Stephen F. Austin's 6-3 mark wouldn't even have the Lumberjacks in second place—and in a spot for an automatic berth in the Southland tourney—entering the week in the Southland West, with Sam Houston State (8-0) and Texas A&M Corpus Christi (6-2) leading the way.
