The Red Storm isn't a postseason candidate, and with a depleted roster and a coach who can't be with the team on game day, there are plenty of reasons for the fans to wish the season was already over. But a victory over UCLA on Saturday could give the team some momentum heading into the final few weeks of the season and the following year.
Though the 66-63 victory over the Bruins won't help the Johnnies in the Big East standings, it helps the team feel like there's still time to make an impact down the stretch. St. John's won again Monday, 79-72 over lowly DePaul.
"A big win gives us back our confidence and gives us a little momentum heading back into Big East play and the Big East tournament that's coming up," freshman forward Moe Harkless said.
