SMU had planned on making a major move up the standings this year.

After all, the Mustangs' front line was one of the strongest in the conference, and there was hope that their freshman guard could make a strong impact.

But things didn't quite turn out the way SMU had hoped, with the team finishing last in the league standings with just three conference victories, and only nine wins overall.

So what happened? Somehow, despite the defense being solid, the offense just didn't work, averaging 64.6 points per game. The team averaged just 11.13 assists per game, which shows how little they worked as a team to get a good shot.

And turnovers were a major problem, with the team averaging a league-high 14.9 per game.
