Ultimately, getting snubbed by the NCAA has worked out for the best for Penn State. Instead of the likelihood of getting eliminated during the first weekend, the young Nittany Lions have benefited from five extra games and earned their first national postseason title.

Penn State beat Baylor 69-63 on April 2 in Madison Square Garden to capture the NIT championship.

The Nittany Lions finished 27-11, setting a school record for single-season victories.

All of Penn State's extra games and practices are critical for returning players still developing that winning swagger.

That doesn't apply to Jamelle Cornley, though. The senior's eligibility has run out, and he made a memorable exit.
