John Roberson scored 22 points, Darko Cohadarevic added 12 and Texas Tech barely held off a second-half rally to beat Oklahoma 72-71 Tuesday night, snapping the Sooners' 31-game home winning streak against unranked opponents. The maturation of freshman guard Tommy Mason-Griffin was expedited by injury.
With Willie Warren struggling to overcome a tender right ankle, Oklahoma turned to its highly-touted freshman. Mason-Griffin has responded with monster games, including a 24-point performance Feb. 6 to help the Sooners stun Texas 80-71.
By the time Texas rolled into Norman, the book was out on Mason-Griffin, who entered the game shooting a team-best 44.6 percent from 3-point range.
Double teams were part of the Longhorns' strategy, especially when Warren was out, which was most of the time since the sophomore logged just 16 minutes.
