New Mexico coach Steve Alford is going to have to move forward without his three leading scorers from last season—and a valuable assistant coach.

Chris Walker, noted for his recruiting prowess—especially in Texas—took a job in early June on Jay Wright's staff at his alma mater, Villanova. It will be Walker's second stint as an assistant coach with the Wildcats.

As of mid-June, the Lobos had a roster of 10 players, with one senior (returning starting forward Roman Martinez) and one junior (guard Dairese Gary).

After a 22-12 season, New Mexico is losing seniors Tony Danridge, Chad Toppert and Daniel Faris, the team's top three scorers and three of its top four rebounders.
