Simply leading the team in scoring wasn't enough. The Gophers needed more out of senior Lawrence Westbrook.
With one shot during perhaps the most critical point of the season, he delivered.
Westbrook's basket at the buzzer on Feb. 6 to give the Gophers a 66-64 win over Penn State capped another turbulent week for the program. Heralded freshman Royce White was released from his scholarship without ever playing a game, point guard Al Nolen's appeal for reinstatement was denied and now Minnesota was seconds away from overtime against the only team in the Big Ten without a conference victory.
