Can Michigan can declare its 2008-09 season a success?

Well, in John Beilein's second year at the helm, the Wolverines earned their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1998. That sounds like a good thing.

As the South regional's No. 10 seed, Michigan beat Clemson in the first round to pull off the program's first upset of a higher-seeded team since a group of freshmen called the "Fab Five" shocked and rocked their way into the 1992 NCAA title game. So that sounds impressive.

And Michigan didn't just get the job done at the end of the year. The Wolverines opened strong, too, with wins over Duke and UCLA. The team wound up playing 19 of its 35 games against opponents that made the NCAA Tournament.
