Lazar Hayward scored 27 points and Jimmy Butler added 15 to help Marquette beat Xavier 71-61 on Thursday at the Old Spice Classic. Hayward had two 3's and David Cubillan hit a long-range jumper during an 11-0 run that put the Golden Eagles (5-0) up 64-55 with four minutes to play. Jason Love had 21 points and 19 rebounds for Xavier (3-1).

Lazar Hayward had 20 points and eight rebounds to lead Marquette to a 93-68 victory on Tuesday night over South Dakota for its 25th straight non-conference home win. Darius Johnson-Odom added 18 points and Jimmy Butler 13 for the Golden Eagles (4-0), who improved to 4-0 against the Coyotes in the first game between the two schools since the 1967-68 season.

MILWAUKEE -- Jimmy Butler had 15 points and Marquette scored 19 straight points in the first half in an 87-41 victory over Grambling State on Saturday night. Lazar Hayward added 12 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Golden Eagles (3-0). Dwight Buycks chipped in with 10 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists for Marquette, which led at halftime, 36-15.

Lazar Hayward scored a collegiate-high 28 points to lead Marquette to an 86-60 victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Tuesday night. Hayward was 12 of 20 from the floor to go with eight rebounds, two assists and two steals. Jimmy Butler added 13 points and seven rebounds for Marquette (2-0), which never trailed in extending its nonconference home winning streak to 22 games.
