Is it possible for expectations to be high for Iowa State basketball?

Yes, based on one startling decision over the offseason.

Right when the whole world figured standout forward Craig Brackins would declare for the NBA Draft, he opted to return for his junior season.

"His decision to stay was a huge buzz nationally because he was a player who was likely to be a first-round pick, but he decided to come back to school," coach Greg McDermott said.

"That also brought us some attention and expectations on a local level, which is what you hope for anyway."

However, that is difficult to really count on, coming off a 15-17 finish in which the Cyclones were 10th in the Big 12 at 4-12.
