Indiana coach Tom Crean says his team's top scorer Maurice Creek fractured his left knee and will have surgery Tuesday. Crean made the announcement following Indiana's 90-42 victory over Bryant on Monday night. He said he expects Creek to miss the rest of the season. Indiana showed just how far it has to go when it got off to a slow start against Loyola (Md.) and, despite a rally, still managed to lose to the Greyhounds at home.
For a team that had appeared to turn a corner earlier this month by knocking off Pittsburgh, the loss to Loyola (Md.) was a huge strain on the team's confidence. The Hoosiers were left trying to figure out why they have been getting off to slow starts—the Greyhounds scored the first 15 points of the game and led by as much as 24 in the first half—and head coach Tom Crean has been forced to re-evaluate how he can get the most intensity out of his team.
The bottom line is the Hoosiers still make far too many mistakes that can be chalked up to inexperience. ...More |
