Jackie Carmichael scored 12 points, including a rebound basket with 49 seconds to play for the game's final points as Illinois State rallied to defeat Bradley 62-61 Tuesday night. The Redbirds (17-8, 8-6), who remained in a tie for third in the Missouri Valley with the victory, trailed almost all the way and were down by as many as 14 points late in the first half. ...More |

Illinois State is learning how to survive without Osiris Eldridge on top of his offensive game. Eldridge, the preseason Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year, is going through the worst shooting stretch of his career, but the Redbirds were hanging on and were tied for third place in the league through Feb. 6.
Eldridge made 4 of 13 shots against Drake on Feb. 6 and, extending his nine-game slump to 35 of 117. His scoring average dropped from 18.3 points to 16.1.
Another senior guard, Lloyd Phillips, and senior forward Dinma Odiakosa have picked up the scoring slack. Phillips averaged 13.7 points in his last six games through Feb. 6 and sank a clutch 3-pointer with 23 seconds left that helped the Redbirds hold off Drake, 71-68, on Feb. ...More |
