The 2008-09 Duquesne Dukes, picked to finish 12th in the preseason coaches poll, advanced to the Atlantic 10 Championship final where they came up six points shy of the school's first NCAA tournament appearance since 1977.

The Dukes were rewarded with an NIT bid, an accomplishment in itself. It marked the school's first postseason appearance since the 1994 NIT.

That team managed to post the school's most wins since 1971, so excuse the Dukes if they're feeling pretty good under coach Ron Everhart, who took over a three-win team four years ago.

"Our program has handled adversity pretty well for a couple of years now," Everhart said. "Now we've put ourselves in a position where we have to handle some success.
