Down by six points with 12 minutes to go, third-ranked Syracuse knew it was time for some shutdown defense. The Orange nearly pitched a shutout the rest of the way. Syracuse held Cincinnati to one field goal over the final 12 minutes on Sunday, extending the best start in school history with a 71-54 victory, its 10th in a row. ...More |

There has been an interesting development with the Bearcats' lineup in recent weeks. They have stopped starting a true point guard, going instead with Deonta Vaughn and Lance Stephenson. But somehow the play of their freshmen point guards, Cashmere Wright and Jaquon Parker, has improved.
Over the last four games they have averaged 16.3 points a game, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists combined, with just five turnovers in 152 minutes of play.
Prior to that stretch they had combined for just 8.2 points a game and 2.6 assists.
Parker's first start in a Big East game saw him score a career-high 15 with five assists and four rebounds Jan. 20 against South Florida while Wright earned Big East Freshman of the Week honors by scoring 12 points Jan. ...More |
