Much of the WAC appears to be getting better, which means many forecasts are for Boise State to be sinking.

That's not necessarily going to happen. The Broncos, coming off a 19-win season and a tie for third place in the league at 9-7, return four starters from last season, including senior point guard Anthony Thomas, who doled out a school-record 151 assists last year.

So, what's the problem?

Boise State lost power forward Mark Sanchez, a second-team all-conference pick, to graduation. He averaged 13 points and 7.2 rebounds per game last season and was a steady force.

The Broncos hope to fill his spot with the spring signing of junior-college transfer Daequon Montreal, who averaged 15.9 points and 8.9 rebounds last season at the College of Southern Idaho.
