MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) -- David Kool scored 27 points and Western Michigan used a
second-half spurt to beat Ball State 71-67 Sunday in the regular-season finale
for both teams.
The Broncos (15-15, 9-7 Mid American Conference) trailed 35-32 at the break,
but tied the game at 38 less than four minutes into the second half.
Kool then hit three 3-pointers during a 12-1 run capped by another trey by
Andre Ricks as Western Michigan took a 50-39 lead with 13:18 remaining. Ricks
finished with 20 for the Broncos.
Kool shot 11-of-14 from the free-throw line.
Skip Mills led the Cardinals with 22 points. Anthony Newell had 13 and Steve
Horton 10 for Ball State (9-21, 5-11), which got no closer than four after the
Bronco surge.
The MAC tournament begins Wednesday in Cleveland, Ohio.
