MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Robert Tomaszek scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed 16 rebounds and coach Bob Knight got career victory No. 795 as Texas Tech beat Minnesota 99-89 in overtime Saturday.
The game appeared to be over with Texas Tech up 10 points with 2:15 to play in regulation. But Minnesota stole an inbounds pass and Steve Esselink hit a 3-pointer to start a 12-2 Gopher run to close out regulation play.
Moe Hargrow's layup cut the lead to three with 1:13 left and Rick Rickert's 3-pointer tied the game at 74 with 32.4 seconds to play.
Texas Tech took control in overtime, outscoring the Gophers 25-15.
Andre Emmett, coming off back-to-back 31-point games, added 24 points and Kasib Powell had 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists for Texas Tech.
Hargrow scored a career-high 24 points and Rickert had 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Gophers.
It was Knight's first appearance in a Big Ten arena since being fired from Indiana in 2000 for what the university called a ``pattern of unacceptable behavior.''
After being roundly booed by a season-high crowd of 14,156 at Williams Arena, Knight watched his Red Raiders force 20 turnovers and weather a furious Minnesota run to win the game in overtime.
Tomaszek led two key runs for the Red Raiders. In the first half, with star guard Andre Emmett out with foul trouble, Tomaszek scored eight points in the final 2:40 to give Texas Tech a 37-30 halftime lead.
He then scored five points in an 11-4 run midway through the second half and also added six points in overtime.
