After the teams traded baskets, Santa Clara seized a 5-point lead with less than a minute remaining. Pacific’s comeback fell short when Ray Cowels III sank two free throws to make it a two-possession game with 16 seconds left.
Pacific (4-5) was led in scoring by Lorenzo McCloud with 22 points, including 11 for 12 from the free throw line.
