Gardner-Webb routs South Carolina State 87-57
Saturday, Dec 10, 2011BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP)—Jason Dawson came off the bench to score 15 points and lead four Gardner-Webb players in double figures in an 87-57 win over South Carolina State on Saturday night.
The win was the third in a row for the Runnin’ Bulldogs (6-6) and avenged a 73-68 loss to South Carolina State earlier in the season.
Stefon Johnson added 13 points, Donte Harper had 12 and Kevin Hartley scored 10 for Gardner-Webb, whose previous five games against Division I teams had been decided by six points or less.
The Runnin’ Bulldogs, who entered the game shooting 42.5 percent, shot 54 percent (34 of 64) from the field and Dawson was 5 of 10 with three 3-pointers.
Joe Ikhinmwin scored 14 points and Khalif Toombs added 13 for South Carolina State (4-6), which lost its fourth game in a row. The Bulldogs shot only 37.7 percent (20 of 53).
