MMONMOUTH, N.J. (AP)—Jesse Steele had 18 points to lead four double-figure scorers for Monmouth (N.J.) in an 80-65 win over Fordham on Saturday night.
Ed Waite added 14 points, Dion Nesmith 12 and Mike Myers Keitt 10 for the Hawks (2-8). Monmouth has won back-to-back games after opening the season on an eight game losing skid.
First-year Monmouth coach King Rice picked up his first career win in the Hawks’ 68-67 victory at Navy Tuesday.
Myers Keitt, Waite and Nesmith dropped in a layup apiece to start the game for the Hawks, who opened on a 12-0 run and were never seriously challenged in the win.
The Hawks led 36-23 at the break and outscored the Rams 44-42 in the second to seal it.
Chris Gaston scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Rams (3-5), who have dropped consecutive games for the first time this season.
