Saturday, Dec 10, 2011PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (AP)—Percy Woods scored 16 points, dished out 10 assists and had five steals as Maryland Eastern Shore routed Mercy 95-69 on Saturday.
The Hawks (3-8) scored 37 points off of 30 turnovers by the Division II school, and outscored the Mavericks 44-24 in the paint.
Maryland-Eastern Shore led 17-14 with 12:02 left in the first half, and scored eight straight. Hillary Haley, who along with Ishaq Pitt had four points during the run, capped it on a jumper with 8:37 remaining in the half.
Pitt paced the Hawks with 18 points, Haley finished with 17 and Louis Bell had 14.
The Hawks shot 47.3 percent from the field (35 of 74), and surpassed their scoring average (55.6) by just under 40 points against the Mavericks, who give up 75.6 points per game.
Colin Senior led Mercy with 17 points and Joseph Pope had 11.
