Saturday, Dec 3, 2011CONWAY, S.C. (AP)—Chris Gradnigo scored 23 points to lead Coastal Carolina over Liberty 78-68 on Saturday.
Gradnigo was 5 of 9 from 3-point range, and the Chanticleers (7-1, 2-0 Big South Conference) finished 8 of 18 from long range in their fifth straight win over the Flames.
Coastal Carolina made 50 percent of their field goals (27 of 54), including 7-of-11 shooting by Anthony Raffa, who finished with 17 points. Kierre Greenwood chipped in 11 for the Chanticleers.
Coastal Carolina trailed 14-11 with 12:30 left in the first half, before going on a 17-4 run capped by Jon Pack’s layup with 5:44 left. Gradnigo scored 10 points during the spurt.
The Chanticleers wouldn’t trail the rest of the way.
Tavares Speaks led the Flames (2-7, 0-2) with 15 points and David Minaya had 14. Antwan Burrus added 12 points and 10 rebounds for Liberty, in its sixth straight loss.
