Cal Poly SLO routs San Jose State 79-52

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP)—Amaurys Fermin scored 17 points to lead Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo to a 79-52 season-opening victory over San Jose State Saturday night.

Will Taylor had 12 points and 13 rebounds for the Mustangs, who owned a 47-26 edge on the boards against San Jose State and built a 40-27 halftime lead. Maliik Love also scored 12 points for Cal Poly.

Keith Shamburger had 13 points and Wil Carter 12 for the Spartans, who also played their first game of the season.
