Hot-shooting Princeton defeats Cornell 84-66

PRINCETON, N.J. (AP)—Ian Hummer had 20 points and nine rebounds to lead Princeton to an 84-66 win over Cornell on Friday night, sweeping the season series.

The Tigers (21-5, 9-1 Ivy League) shot 62.3 percent from the field (33 of 53) compared to only 38.2 percent (21 of 55) in the 75-65 loss to Brown last Saturday that snapped their 10-game winning streak.

The Big Red (7-18, 3-8), who lost the teams’ first matchup 57-55 on Feb. 12, made 20 of 54 field goals (37 percent).

Hummer was 9 of 11 from the floor. Princeton made 10 of 18 3-pointers, with Dan Mavraides hitting 4 of 8 to finish with 17 points and Douglas Davis going 5 of 7 for 15 points.

After the Tigers used an 18-2 spurt to lead 36-19, Cornell closed out the half on an 18-5 run.

The Big Red got to 61-59 with 11:22 to go, then Princeton put the game away with a 20-3 run.

Chris Wroblewski led Cornell with 14 points.
