ELON, N.C. (AP)—Chris Long scored 30 points and handed out 10 assists to lead Elon to a 99-90 Southern Conference victory over North Carolina-Greensboro on Saturday night.
Sebastian Koch scored 23 points for the Phoenix (12-15, 6-10), 17 of them in the first half, when they took a 46-31 lead.
Both teams picked up their offensive pace in the second half, Elon shooting 64 percent (16 of 25) from the field and the Spartans (5-21, 5-10) 60 percent (21 of 35).
Long scored 22 of his points in the second half, including a 3-pointer that gave the Phoenix their largest lead, 63-43 with 13:39 remaining.
UNC Greensboro, with Brandon Evans getting 15 of his 26 points in the second half, trimmed the lead to five, 70-65, after a 22-7 run but got no closer.
Long, a senior guard, now has 1,014 points in his career.
Korey Van Dussen and Brian Cole added 15 points each for UNC Greensboro.
