Loyola Marymount holds on against Pepperdine 82-79

LOS ANGELES (AP)—Drew Viney scored 21 points as Loyola Marymount pulled out an 82-79 victory over Pepperdine on Wednesday night.

The Lions (10-17, 2-10 West Coast) led most of the game and were ahead by as many as 14 points late in the first half.

The Waves (11-18, 5-7) caught up in the second half and took a brief lead with about four minutes left when Lorne Jackson hit a 3-pointer to make it 75-74.

Viney, however, answered with a quick layup and the Lions never trailed again.

Mychel Thompson led Pepperdine with a game-high 29 points while Jackson added 22 and Corbin Moore 16.

LaRon Armstead and Anthony Ireland helped Loyola Marymount with 14 points each as Ayodeji Egbeyemi scored 13 and Vernon Teel 11.
