St. Joseph’s ends losing streak, beats UMass 67-64

PHILADELPHIA (AP)—Langston Galloway scored 25 points and Saint Joseph’s held off Massachusetts to snap a nine-game losing streak with a 67-64 win on Saturday night.

Galloway knocked down six 3-pointers for the Hawks (6-17, 1-8 Atlantic 10), who won despite being outrebounded 44-24. Daryus Quarles finished with 11 points.

Saint Joseph’s led by as many as 13 points after Galloway hit a 3-pointer with 8:53 left in the second half. The Minutemen rallied, going on a 13-2 run to cut the lead to 52-50 with 5:10 remaining.

Anthony Gurely, who finished with 10 points, made a 3-pointer to trim the margin to one point with 18 seconds left. But Idris Hilliard made two free throws to help Saint Joseph’s end the second-longest losing streak in school history.

Sean Carter had eight points and 15 rebounds—seven offensive—for the Minutemen (13-9, 5-4). Freddie Riley had 14 points.
