Preview | Box Score | Recap

WASHINGTON (AP)—Mike Phillips scored 19 points to lead all five Howard starters in double figures in a 70-67 victory over slumping Delaware State on Monday night.

Delaware State had a chance to win in the final seconds after rallying from a 17-point deficit, but Desi Washington lost control of the ball heading the basket. Howard corralled the loose ball with 1.2 seconds remaining and Mike Phillips iced the game with two free throws.

The victory gives Howard (4-17, 2-7 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) its first set of back-to-back wins of the season after a nine-game losing skid, while the Hornets (8-12, 4-4) have lost three straight.

Anton Dickerson and Dadrian Collins added 14 points each, while Alphonso Leary had 12 points and Kyle Riley 11.

Washington led the Hornets with 20 points, while Marques Oliver had 14 points and 11 rebounds.
