Colorado State defeats TCU 79-69

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP)—Andy Ogide had 17 points and 11 rebounds as Colorado State defeated TCU 79-69 on Saturday night.

It was Ogide’s fifth double-double of the season and 12th of his career. Ogide was coming off a 3-for-11 shooting game at New Mexico.

Travis Franklin added 14 points for Colorado State (12-5, 2-1 Mountain West). Dorian Green and Jesse Carr had 10 each for the Rams, who have won eight of their last 10 games.

Amric Fields came off the bench to score 19 points for TCU (10-9, 1-3). Ronnie Moss had 17 points and Hank Thorns 13 for the Horned Frogs, who have lost five straight on the road.

The Horned Frogs remained within striking distance in the second half, closing the gap to 50-45 on a layup and free throw by Fields. Colorado State stretched the lead was back to 55-45 on two baskets by Moe Wiltz and Greg Smith’s free throw.

Fields got the game to 57-50 for TCU, but Carr made a reverse layup after a 3-pointer to push Colorado State’s lead to 66-52. The score was 72-62 when Garlon Green made a jumper just inside the arc for the Horned Frogs, but Adam Nigon’s 3-pointer sealed the game with 2:09 left.

Colorado State shot 60 percent from the field but made only 11 of 24 free throws.
