LAS VEGAS (AP)—Mike Groselle had 19 points and 14 rebounds to lead The Citadel to a 67-57 victory over South Carolina State at the Las Vegas Classic on Wednesday.
Zach Urbanus added 15 points, and Cameron Wells had 14 for The Citadel (4-7), which earned a matchup with SIU-Edwardsville on Thursday.
Darnell Porter led South Carolina State (4-7) with 16 points while Omar Sanders added 12. South Carolina State will play Longwood on Thursday.
The Citadel took a 45-44 lead on Wells’ driving layup with about nine minutes remaining and led the rest of the way. The Citadel pushed its lead to double digits with four free throws in the final 1:23.
Khalif Toombs gave South Carolina State a 34-33 halftime lead with a 35-foot 3-pointer at the buzzer.
