SALT LAKE CITY (AP)—Utah broke open a back-and-forth game late in the second half and held off Pepperdine 67-60 on Tuesday night.
Utah reserve guard Chris Kupets keyed a 14-6 run with back-to-back 3-pointers, and Will Clyburn scored 12 of his game-high 23 points in the second half for the Utes (6-2).
Jason Washburn had 12 points and eight rebounds for Utah, which won its third in a row and improved to 5-0 at home.
Keion Bell scored 17 points and Josh Lowery added 10 for the Waves (3-7), who have lost five of their last seven.
Clyburn was 8 of 13 from the field and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. Kupets finished with eight points.
Both teams struggled from long range. Utah made 6 of 23 3-point attempts, while Pepperdine was just 3 of 17.
